How Whatnot seller fees work in 2026
When you sell an item on Whatnot in the US, Canada, or Australia, two fees come out of every sale:
- 8% commission on the item's sale price. This is Whatnot's marketplace fee.
- 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing on the total order value — the cost of running the buyer's card payment.
Together that's roughly 9.5% of a typical sale. On a $50 card, you keep about $44.25 before shipping and your cost of goods.
The $1,500 trading-card commission cap
This is the rule most generic calculators get wrong. As of January 14, 2026, Whatnot charges 0% commission on the portion of an order above $1,500 in select categories — including trading card games and sports card singles. If you sell a $2,000 slab, you pay the 8% commission only on the first $1,500; the last $500 is commission-free (payment processing still applies to the full amount).
